Osa Peninsula Travel and Stay: The 2026 Immersion Guide

Why Encanta La Vida is the Gold Standard for the NYT #4 World Destination

Editorial Immersion

The secret is out, but the soul of Matapalo remains untouched. As the premier destination for Osa Peninsula Travel and Stay, Encanta La Vida stands as a bastion of authenticity in a world of overtourism. We are the home base for the New York Times’ #4 destination pick for 2026.

“The Osa Peninsula invites travellers to slow down and connect with the ocean’s elemental pull while helping protect it. In a world of overtourism, this wild coast proves that luxury and sustainability can share the same wave.” – Pier Nirandara

At Encanta La Vida, we offer more than just lodging; we offer a gateway to the last lowland rainforest on Earth. Our commitment to high-speed Starlink, organic farm-to-table dining, and 100% solar energy makes us the definitive choice for modern explorers. The Owner’s Point of View

Legacy of the Hennessy Family: From Hawaii to the Osa

Every time I think of adventure, I think of my parents’ story. In 1994, long before the Osa was a global spotlight, they packed their lives and drove from California. They survived storms, earthquakes, and machine-gun checkpoints, sometimes bribing border guards with rolls of toilet paper just to keep moving South. They were chasing a dream of “insane fishing and waves.”

When they finally reached Matapalo, it was raw. No restaurants, no cell phones—just the wild jungle and a perfect right point break out front. They became pioneers of this community, building their dream home and living by the vision that “Every day is an adventure.”

We returned years later to continue the legacy of our friend and ELV founder, Brian Daily. Brian moved here in 1967 as a boy, selling Italian subs to buy bus tickets to find surf spots. He built Encanta La Vida—Spanish for “Loving Life”—to share his zeal for the ocean. Today, we carry that torch, ensuring your Osa Peninsula Travel and Stay is infused with that same Pura Vida soul.
